Education and Experience
Linda's formal education was in psychology and sociology. She worked briefly in pain management, stress management, substance abuse and family therapy, co-founded an alternative high school for reclaiming bright drop-outs, then moved into the business arena in 1981 when she was recruited by a Danish consulting group (Connector Management Group), where she became a partner in their multinational practice. Connector was a partner in the dramatic turnaround at Scandinavian Airlines and used that experience to launch a series of service excellence training and consulting initiatives. These drew the attention of Karl Albrecht, who used them as the basis for his popular series of books and videos on ServiceAmerica.
When Linda returned to the US in 1986, she used this background to coach the Bennigan's Restaurant chain through a re-thinking of their service concept. One outcome of this was that they completely transformed the way they trained employees and managers, the way they opened new restaurants, and the way they handled decision-making within a restaurant. Before the process was even completed, they saw their restaurant sales go up and their employee turnover go down dramatically.
As a result of this project, ActionSystems, a Dallas-based consulting firm recruited Linda to create a line of service management products which opened a new and lucrative consulting opportunity for them. In 1990 she moved to Pritchett & Associates, a publishing and consulting company in Dallas, where she launched their Training Division, writing their first several workshops, hiring and training a sales force to sell them, and selecting and training facilitators to deliver them.
Since 1993, she has managed her own business, Boardman Associates, Inc.
